Resentment of Imperial rule roiled the Allied Tion sector and unrest was widespread. The sector government was severly weakened by the endless wars under Grand Moff Zsinj. The war with the New Republic proved to be his undoing. When the news of Grand Moff Zsinj’s death reached the sector, the unrest became strife. The attacks on the Imperials and the reprisals grew so severe that several systems broke out in open conflict. The situation on Doona spiraled totally out of control and ended in the system-wide deaths of all Imperial forces, officials, and their supporters. A purge of all Imperials.
Imperial officials remaining in the sector were spooked; they were in an untenable situation with neither leadership nor military strength and facing purges. They abandoned the sector, fled to Lianna and beyond. They were not well recieved by their fellow Imperials.
The severely crippled sector government lacked the ability and legitimacy to counteract a general breakdown of interstellar institutions precipitated by the lack of the skilled Imperial administrators. Various systems declaring their independance did nothing to help the situation. While the sector is nominally independent, the chaos made the sector more like a failed state. The New Republic engages in a long term diplomatic campaign with endless inconclusive talks and assisting the reestablishment of civic institutions.
This power vacuum has drawn many organizations and individuals, most are not there for charitable reasons.
A darkness has decended.
